Zuckerberg Island is a small, wooded heritage park reached by a footbridge from the Castlegar side of the Columbia. Trails loop through the trees, with views toward the meeting of the Columbia and Kootenay rivers.
The island also has the Chapel House, built by Alexander Zuckerberg, who taught Russian to Doukhobor children here in the 1950s. It is a modest stop rather than a grand sight, but it gives Castlegar a quiet riverside walk with a local story attached.
