Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve

The Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve protects wetland and forest on the Vedder River floodplain. The paths are level and easy, with blinds, boardwalk sections, an observation tower, and an interpretive centre that makes the place useful even if the birds are being shy.

The reserve is best from spring into early summer, when the Pacific great blue herons nest in the colony. Keep your distance and bring binoculars; the appeal here is quiet watching, not a big dramatic viewpoint.
