Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame

The Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame in New Westminster is the national museum of the sport that was originally codified here in the 19th century. The collection covers the history of lacrosse from its Indigenous origins through to the modern professional game, with artifacts, jerseys, photographs, and equipment from over a century of play.

New Westminster's own Salmonbellies team is well represented — the club's trophy record is displayed with justifiable pride. The Hall of Fame is located near the Queen's Park Arena where the Salmonbellies still play their home games.

A story
New Westminster has a stronger claim than any other city to being the lacrosse capital of Canada. The New Westminster Salmonbellies, founded in 1889, are the oldest continuously operating lacrosse club in the world. They have won more Mann Cup championships than any other team, and the sport remains genuinely popular here rather than a historical curiosity.
