New Westminster is well connected to Vancouver by SkyTrain — the simplest and most practical way to arrive. Two SkyTrain stations serve the city: New Westminster station on the Expo Line, right in the city centre near Columbia Street, and Columbia station, slightly closer to the waterfront. The journey from Vancouver Waterfront station takes roughly 30 minutes; from Commercial-Broadway, about 20 minutes.
By car, New Westminster is about 25 km from downtown Vancouver via Highway 1. Parking in the city centre is less fraught than in Vancouver, with paid lots near the Quay and on Columbia Street.
Buses from Surrey and Burnaby also connect to New Westminster, but the SkyTrain is faster and more reliable.
