Queen's Park is New Westminster's main green space — a large Victorian-era park on the hill above the city centre, with old-growth firs, a small petting farm, a children's spray park, and open meadows popular with picnickers and dog walkers. The park was established when New Westminster was British Columbia's capital, and the scale of the grounds reflects the ambitions of a city that expected to grow into the province's largest.
The Queen's Park Arena on the park's edge is home to the Salmonbellies lacrosse team and hosts concerts and community events. The neighbourhood surrounding the park has some of the best Edwardian residential architecture in the region — worth a walk even if you are just passing through.
