The Juan de Fuca Marine Trail runs for 47 km along the west coast of southern Vancouver Island. Port Renfrew sits by the Botanical Beach end, making it a natural start or finish for backpackers.
You do not need to commit to the full trail to enjoy it. Short day hikes from the Port Renfrew side give a taste of rainforest, mud, roots, and open coast, but conditions can change quickly after rain.
