Forests for the World

Forests for the World is a community forest that extends north from the city into managed woodland, with 11 kilometres of hiking and mountain biking trails accessible year-round. The area takes its name from a tree-planting initiative but has evolved into a genuine outdoor recreation zone used by Prince George residents for walking, skiing, and snowshoeing.

The trails vary from flat riverside walks to modest climbs with views over the city and the surrounding boreal landscape. In winter the trails are groomed for cross-country skiing. The forest is one of Prince George's better arguments that living here is about more than practical access to the highway network — it's the kind of place that makes a long winter bearable.
