Whiffin Spit is a narrow natural breakwater guarding Sooke Harbour. The walk is flat and easy, but it feels bigger than it is: water on both sides, driftwood, gulls, herons, and frequent seal sightings near the harbor mouth.
It is a good first or last stop in Sooke, especially when the weather is unsettled and the coast looks dramatic. At tide changes, watch the water near the tip for feeding seals and birds.
