Skeena River Fishing

The Skeena is one of the great wild salmon rivers of the world. Five species — chinook (king), sockeye, coho, pink, and chum — return up it every year, plus a famous run of steelhead trout in autumn. Terrace is the practical base for fishing the lower river and its tributaries: the Copper (Zymoetz), the Kalum, and the Lakelse all join the Skeena within thirty kilometres of town.

Several outfitters in Terrace run guided trips by jet boat — Kalum River Resort and Yellow Cedar Lodge are among the long-standing operators. The peak chinook run is June and July; steelhead season is September through November. Licences are required and conservation closures are common; check the BC fisheries notices before you book.
