The Grand Falls Gorge is the reason to stop. The Saint John River drops over a ledge and cuts through a narrow rock channel, with lookouts, stairways, and a short walking route tying the main viewpoints together.
The water is strongest in spring, when the river is swollen and loud. Later in the season the gorge itself becomes the star, especially from the La Rochelle side where stairs lead down toward the rock walls.
