Fundy Discovery Aquarium

A small but engaging aquarium at the western edge of town, attached to the long-running Huntsman Marine Science Centre. The displays focus on the cold-water ecosystem of the Bay of Fundy: harbour seals, lobsters, skate, cod, sturgeon, anemones, sea stars, and a touch tank where children can handle non-aggressive marine life under supervision. Outside, the seal pool is the perennial favourite.

The aquarium also serves as the public face of the Huntsman's research work — there are exhibits on tidal energy, marine mammal stranding, and ocean acidification. Open daily May through October, with reduced hours off-season; admission charged. Allow an hour and a half.

A story
The aquarium honours Delilah, a northern bottlenose whale who lived briefly in St. Andrews waters in the 1990s and became a local celebrity. After her death, a full-sized model was installed at the aquarium and a commemorative coin minted in her name. She was one of the catalysts that shifted St. Andrews from a fishing town to a research and conservation centre for the Bay of Fundy.
