Kingsbrae Garden

Twenty-seven acres of landscaped horticulture sit on a hillside above the centre of St. Andrews, built out of the gardens of several adjoining nineteenth-century summer estates. Kingsbrae is among the best public gardens in Atlantic Canada — a mix of formal beds, woodland walks, a knot garden, a children's fantasy garden, a labyrinth, and a small working alpaca paddock that children invariably remember most.

The site also runs an artist-in-residence programme and a small cafe-restaurant (the Garden Café), so you can easily spend three or four hours here. Open daily from late May to mid-October; admission charged. Allow at least two hours; longer if you eat. The garden is steep in places — wear sensible shoes.
