Point Amour Lighthouse stands on the coast east of Forteau, built in the 1850s to guide ships through the Strait of Belle Isle. It is the tallest lighthouse in Atlantic Canada, and the climb gives a clear view across to Newfoundland on a good day.
The site is worth more than a quick photograph. The restored keeper's house explains the light, the local coast, and the hard traffic of the strait.
