The reconstructed sod house in Tuktoyaktuk shows how Inuvialuit families used the materials available on a treeless Arctic coast. Driftwood formed the frame, sod and earth insulated the walls, and oil lamps helped keep the interior warm through winter.
It is a modest stop, but it adds useful context before you look at the driftwood-strewn shore and the modern houses around town.
