The Nova Scotia Museum of Industry is in nearby Stellarton, close enough to New Glasgow to function as one of its main sights. It covers the province's coal, steel, rail, textile and manufacturing history, including the hard industrial world that made Pictou County more than a string of coastal villages.
The museum's star object is Samson, an 1838 steam locomotive from the Albion Mines Railway. It is a good stop for families, railway enthusiasts, and anyone trying to understand why this quiet valley once mattered so much economically.
