The Pictou County History Museum, formerly the Carmichael-Stewart House Museum, occupies an 1880 Victorian house tied to one of New Glasgow's shipbuilding families. Inside are local photographs, Scottish material, Trenton glassware and domestic details that connect the county's industrial and immigrant stories.
It is a modest house museum, but a useful one. Visit before driving out to Pictou, Stellarton or the shore and the surrounding towns will make more sense.
