Arvia'juaq and Qikiqtaarjuk are the cultural heart of a visit to Arviat. Arvia'juaq is a long island just offshore; Qikiqtaarjuk is the point of land opposite it. Together they preserve tent rings, food caches, kayak stands, graves, and spiritual sites tied to generations of Paallirmiut Inuit summer life.
Do not treat this as an ordinary ruin or a place to wander through alone. Go with local guidance, listen more than you talk, and remember that the site's importance is not only historical.
