The May Hakongak Community Library and Cultural Centre is more than a library. It is home to the Kitikmeot Heritage Society, with exhibits, archives, and programs focused on Inuinnait culture, language, and memory.
For travelers, this is one of the best places in Cambridge Bay to slow down and understand where you are. The displays are modest, but the subject matter is not: old camps, sewing, tools, oral history, and the long relationship between the community and the land.
