Marble Island is a remote Hudson Bay island reached by boat from Rankin Inlet. It is known for Inuit traditions, dwarf fireweed growing among pale rocks, and visible traces of Arctic maritime history, including graves linked to the Knight Expedition and the wreck site of the Orray Taft.
Access is not casual: non-Inuit visitors need a tourism licence from the Kivalliq Inuit Association. For travellers who can arrange the trip properly, the island is a stark northern landscape with a strong sense of history.
