This small downtown statue marks Almonte's link to James Naismith, the local-born educator who invented basketball in 1891. It is not a major monument, but it is a useful stop because the story is bigger than the square.
Look for the plaque and hoop, then continue to the Mill of Kintail if you want the fuller Naismith exhibit.
