A 27-foot-tall replica of the Canadian two-dollar coin stands in Old Mill Park in central Campbellford, beside the Trent River. The toonie commemorates Brent Townsend, the local wildlife artist who designed the polar bear that appears on the real coin. It is unambiguously roadside-attraction kitsch — and entirely charming for it.
The park itself is a pleasant grass-and-trees spot with the river slipping past at one edge and the wooden footbridge to downtown a short walk away. The monument is permanent and free to visit. It is the kind of small-town landmark that gives Campbellford its outsized identity as "Chocolate Town" and home of the giant coin.
