Coney Island is the small wooded island a short boat ride from downtown Kenora — not to be confused with the Brooklyn one. The island has been used as a public picnic, swimming, and camping area for over a century. Sandy beaches, walking paths through the trees, and a campground occupy most of the island. The water taxi runs from the Harbourfront in summer.
A reasonable half-day expedition: take the boat over with a picnic, swim, walk the perimeter, and come back. Operates June through September.
