☰St Peter's Cathedral Basilica

The Catholic cathedral, finished in 1885 and raised to minor basilica status by Pope Francis in 2017. Twin spires in carved limestone, a Connolly organ in the gallery, and a vast painted ceiling lit by clerestory windows. Walk five minutes north from Victoria Park; it stands almost back-to-back with the Anglican cathedral, a piece of 19th-century denominational competition built in stone.
