London's compact downtown lays itself out within a fifteen-minute walk: a Gothic Revival cathedral, a Greene-and-Greene-style park bandstand, the country's oldest baseball diamond, and a downtown art museum at the forks of the Thames. Add Banting House, the modest home where the doctor who discovered insulin had the original idea, and you have a half-day of genuinely worthwhile sights. The university campus to the northwest is worth the bus ride for its modernist quad and the McIntosh Gallery.
