Whirlpool Aero Car

The Whirlpool Aero Car is a suspended cable car that glides over the Niagara Whirlpool, where the river abruptly changes direction and folds back on itself. It is short, old-fashioned, and still thrilling because the water below looks genuinely violent.

This is one of the better paid Niagara Parks stops if you want a view of the gorge rather than another frontal view of the falls. It pairs well with a walk in the Niagara Glen, which sits just downstream.

A story
The Spanish engineer Leonardo Torres Quevedo designed the aero car, and it has been carrying passengers over the whirlpool since 1916. Because of the river bend, the car crosses the international boundary in the air but starts and ends in Canada.
