Palmer Park is the easy lakefront stop in Port Perry, with lawns, paths, a marina, and views across Lake Scugog. In summer it is the place to watch boats move in and out, eat outside, or sit by the water after walking downtown.
The lake is shallow and cottage-country rather than dramatic, but it gives Scugog its shape. Without the waterfront, Port Perry would be a pleasant main street; with it, the town becomes a worthwhile day trip.
