Slate Islands Provincial Park

Remote island park offshore from Terrace Bay, known for caribou and impact-crater geology.

The Slate Islands sit about 12 km offshore and feel much farther away once Lake Superior weather gets involved. The archipelago is protected as a provincial park and is known for woodland caribou, old lighthouse sites, and geology tied to an ancient meteorite impact.

There is no casual ferry. You need a charter, your own suitable boat, or a well-planned paddling trip, so treat the islands as a serious excursion rather than an add-on.
