Nottawasaga River

Slow Georgian Bay river used for paddling, fishing, and a quieter look at Wasaga's sandy backcountry.

The Nottawasaga River is the quieter side of Wasaga Beach. It reaches Georgian Bay near the main beach area, but upstream it gives paddlers, anglers, and birders a slower landscape of bends, marshy edges, and sand-country forest.

For most visitors this is a change of pace rather than a headline sight. Rent or bring a canoe or kayak if conditions are right, and you get a useful escape from the beach crowds without leaving town.
