Covehead Harbour Lighthouse is the little white landmark that fixes this stretch of coast in memory. The present tower dates from the 1970s, replacing an older light, and stands beside the entrance to Covehead Bay among the national park dunes.
It is a quick stop rather than a long visit, but a good one: harbour, beach, dunes and red island light all in the same frame. Pair it with lunch at the wharf or a walk along the Gulf Shore Parkway.
