Île Nue de Mingan

Bare western Mingan island with monoliths, fragile barrens, seabirds, and old Basque traces.

Île Nue de Mingan is named honestly: much of the island feels bare, with low barrens, small wind-shaped growth, and pale rock forms standing out against the Gulf. It is one of the stranger island landscapes near Longue-Pointe-de-Mingan.

Visits are controlled by boat schedules and park rules, and the environment is fragile. If you get there, walk carefully, watch for seabirds, and pay attention to the rock shapes and shoreline plants rather than expecting a conventional beach island.
