The Mingan Island Cetacean Study Research Station gives Longue-Pointe-de-Mingan a sharper identity than a simple beach village. The station studies whales in the Gulf of St Lawrence and turns part of that work into public interpretation.
The exhibits are especially useful before a whale or island trip, because they explain what you may see on the water and why the Gulf matters for large marine mammals. It is a small place, but the science is real and rooted in this coast.
