Bic National Park protects one of the loveliest stretches of the Lower St. Lawrence: small bays, steep capes, salt marsh, tidal flats, and islands that look different every few hours as the water moves. It is about half an hour west of Rimouski and makes the city a useful base rather than just a road stop.
The park is good for short walks, cycling, sea kayaking in season, and watching seals haul out on the rocks. Bring layers even in summer. The wind off the river can make a sunny day feel suddenly northern.
