The Rivière-du-Loup-Saint-Siméon ferry is transport, but it is also one of the best ways to feel the scale of the St. Lawrence. The seasonal crossing takes a little over an hour and links the south shore with Charlevoix.
Treat it as part of the trip rather than a shortcut. In clear weather the views are broad, and marine wildlife sometimes appears during the crossing.
