Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré

The Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré is one of Canada's major Catholic shrines and the reason the town is on the map. The present church, completed in the 20th century after an earlier basilica burned, rises above Avenue Royale with tall spires, mosaics, stained glass, and a broad nave built for large pilgrim crowds.

Look for the crutches, canes, and braces left near the entrance by pilgrims who believed they were healed here. Whether you come as a believer or as a curious traveller, that wall says more about the place than any brochure can.
