Granit Central, also known as the Granite Exhibit and Museum of Stanstead, tells the story of Stanstead Grey Granite. The local stone was quarried, cut, exported, and used in buildings and monuments well beyond this small town.
It is a specialist museum, but a useful one if you have already noticed how much granite defines the older streets. The same site also has a model railway collection, which gives it a broader appeal on a wet afternoon.
