Phare du Haut-Fond Prince, nicknamed la Toupie, sits out in the St. Lawrence where the Saguenay Fjord meets the river. Its squat, spinning-top shape makes it easy to pick out from the water, especially on boat trips and whale-watching cruises from Tadoussac.
You do not visit it like a museum lighthouse. It is a landmark to look for from the river, useful both as a navigation marker and as part of the wide, cold maritime scenery that makes Tadoussac feel so exposed and dramatic.
