Canora's 7.6-metre "Lesia" statue stands at the edge of town in Ukrainian dress, holding the traditional bread and salt of welcome. It is roadside folk culture rather than high art, but it works because it says exactly what Canora wants you to notice first.
There is also a cairn marking the 1897 Ukrainian block settlement. Stop for a quick look on the way in or out, then continue to the museum and church for the fuller story.
