The Valley of 1000 Devils is the East Block's big walk, leading into a badlands basin of clay buttes, steep drainages, and pale eroded slopes. It is the part of Grasslands that feels least like the prairie stereotype.
The route is exposed and more demanding than the West Block's short loops. Carry water, check conditions, and give yourself enough time to move slowly through the badlands rather than rushing the return.
