Sukanen Ship Pioneer Village and Museum

South of Moose Jaw, this pioneer village grew around the remarkable story of Tom Sukanen, a Finnish settler who tried to build a ship on the Saskatchewan prairie so he could sail home. The museum now gathers buildings, vehicles, farm equipment, and local artifacts from across the region.

It is odd, earnest, and very prairie: exactly the kind of stop that makes a small-city detour memorable.
