Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo began as a tree nursery for the prairies, which gives it a more interesting backstory than a standard city zoo. The grounds combine heritage buildings, mature shelterbelt plantings, gardens, and animal exhibits.
Families will come for the zoo, but the park itself is part of the attraction. It shows how much effort went into greening prairie settlements, and it gives Saskatoon a leafy, easygoing outing away from the riverbank core.
