Dredge No. 4 is the heavy-metal version of Klondike history. Long after the lone stampeders had gone, companies used giant bucketline dredges to chew through the creek valleys and wash gold from the gravel.
This preserved dredge sits along Bonanza Creek south of Dawson. It is massive, ungainly, and far more revealing than a romantic prospector story: gold mining here became an industrial operation that reshaped the valley floor.
