The Cayman Brac Museum occupies the old Government Administration Building at Stake Bay — a small two-room collection that traces the island's history from settlement through the catboat-building era to the major hurricanes. The 1932 hurricane gets particular attention; it killed more than 100 Brackers and is still the defining catastrophe in island memory.
Highlights include shipwreck salvage, photographs of the schooner trade with Honduras and Tampa, an exhibit on rope-making from agave fibres, and household objects from the early 20th century. The museum is staffed by knowledgeable locals who will fill in anything the captions miss; entry is free. Plan on an hour.
