Tortuga Island can only be reached by boat. Most visitors come on organised day trips from Montezuma, Tambor, or Puntarenas. Calypso Tours runs a popular catamaran cruise that includes lunch and snorkelling gear. Independent boats can sometimes be arranged from Montezuma harbour, but the organised tours are more reliable and usually better value. The crossing takes roughly 90 minutes depending on departure point and sea conditions.
