The Cathedral of San Rosendo is the main Catholic church of Pinar del Río, serving as the seat of the Diocese of Pinar del Río since the early twentieth century. The building stands in the city center and is one of the more striking pieces of colonial architecture in town — a cream-colored facade with a single tower, set back from the main road behind a small plaza.
Inside, the cathedral is simple and austere in the Cuban colonial manner, with high ceilings and stained-glass windows. Religious services are still held regularly. Even outside service hours, the building is worth a look from the outside as a marker of the city's colonial past and its continuing Catholic identity.
