Apaneca sits on the CA-8 mountain road between Ahuachapan and Juayua. Buses run along the Ruta de las Flores, but they are slow and easiest for short hops between towns. From Santa Ana, go via Ahuachapan or Juayua; from San Salvador, most travellers arrive by rental car, shuttle, or a day tour that also stops in Ataco and Juayua.
