Sisimiut Museum occupies a cluster of old colonial buildings near the harbour, including Bethel Church and houses tied to mission, trade, and whaling. It is the best first stop in town because it explains how the modern settlement grew out of much older hunting and coastal life.
The museum also covers archaeology from the wider region, including Saqqaq culture finds. It is small, but in a place where the landscape can overwhelm everything else, that context matters.
