Grenville Market

Grenville's market is the best reason to be in town early, especially on Saturday. Farmers from Saint Andrew bring fruit, vegetables, herbs, and spices down from the surrounding hills, while fish vendors work close to the waterfront and minibuses nose through the traffic.

It is not arranged for visitors, which is part of the charm. Bring small bills, ask before photographing people, and look for nutmeg, cocoa sticks, cinnamon, and whatever fruit is in season. Even a short wander gives a good sense of the agricultural east coast that feeds much of Grenada.
