Lake Antoine

Lake Antoine lies about 10 km north of Grenville in a quiet volcanic bowl. It is one of Grenada's more satisfying small detours: no big visitor centre, no fuss, just a round lake, wetland birds, and views across a gentler, less touristed side of the island.

The lake pairs naturally with River Antoine Estate, which lies nearby and historically drew on the Antoine River system. Birders should come early, when the heat is lower and the waterfowl are easier to see. Everyone else should come for the view and the sense of how quickly Grenada changes once you leave the beach belt.

A story
Lake Antoine is a crater lake rather than a reservoir, formed in the ring of an old volcanic vent. Local accounts have long linked it hydrologically with Grand Etang Lake and St. George's Harbour, a reminder that Grenada's pretty scenery sits on restless geology.
