Pearls Airport

Pearls Airport is a former airstrip just north of Grenville, no longer used for commercial aviation. The long runway and the remains of old aircraft make it an unusual stop: part aviation relic, part open space, part reminder that Grenada's modern history is more complicated than its beaches suggest.

There is not much to "do" here beyond look around and take photographs, and access conditions can change. Treat it as a quick roadside curiosity on the way to Lake Antoine or River Antoine Estate rather than a destination in itself.

A story
Pearls was Grenada's main airport before the larger Maurice Bishop International Airport opened in the 1980s. Its abandoned aircraft are among the island's stranger leftovers from the Cold War period around the 1983 US intervention.
