Saint-Marc lies on the main north–south road from Port-au-Prince to Gonaïves and Cap-Haïtien, about 100 km from the capital. In normal times the drive takes around three hours by tap-tap or shared bus. Since 2023 the road has been periodically blocked by gang activity in the Artibonite, and the safe routing changes month to month — ask locally before setting out.
There is no commercial airport in Saint-Marc. The nearest airfields with regular service are in Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haïtien.
